I ruined my hair by relaxing it help me !!?

i decided to relax my hair my self so i bought relaxer in a box from wal mart .. and i totally ruined my hair it's frizzy dry and i had to cut a lot of it off because the ends were like rubber ... i want my pretty curly hair back but i dont know what i should do .. i've heard different suggestions .. one is that i should shampoo my hair a lot to strip the damaged layer off of my hair .. and the other is that i should condition it and not shampoo it to somehow help my hair repair itself .. i know it takes time but HOW MUCH TIME =[[[[[ ??

Curl it or Iron it.

It might take awhile. Buy some clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner and use it until your hair is healthy again.

The entire hair is damaged, excessive shampooing will make it worse. Look up how chemical straighteners alter the hair. The chemicals work by breaking open the innermost part of the hair and reconstructuring it... Just condition it and trim it every couple of weeks until it has grown out.

Go to a professional immediately. I'm not sure if there are any intensive treatments that will "reverse" the damage you've done, at least nothing over-the-counter.

Was your hair colored as well? Sounds like it was. NEVER mix chemical (perm, relaxer) with color; my sister's hair literally fell out after we warned her not to. I hate to tell you this, you may have to end up cutting it all off, especially if you're damaged entire strands.

Shampoo will not repair it; the chemicals from the relaxer have penetrated and damaged the shaft. (A relaxer is not like a conditioner that coats the hair.) As I mentioned, the only thing that MIGHT help is a professional strength reconstructor and deep conditioning. The sooner you do this, the better chance you have of saving your hair.

Time? Depending on the severity and whether or not they can repair it, the time it takes to grow it back out. (My sister was so devestated that she took her husband's clippers and ended up shaving her head. Very sad... not trying to scare you, just telling the truth.)

Sorry,

Mon :-)

i relax my hair too, twice a year, though i go to the hairdresser for that. what you can do at home is, buy a damaged hair repair shampoo and conditioner. use the shampoo every two days, but use conditioner every single day! put the conditioner, and don't wash it off for like, two hours. wrap your hair with a towel, leave it at that for two hours, and then rinse it. hopefully, within a week or two, you'll start to feel your soft hair again, goodluck!!! =) try to avoid blowdrying or using hair irons, heat damages your hair more...

Ok never ever, ever try to relaxer you hair yourself. Chemical relaxers are harsh chemicals.

There is a reason that hairstylists go to school.

It sounds like what you have done is left the relaxer on way too long.

Did you go to a stylist to get the ends cut? If you did what did he/she say to do with the damage?

Do not shampoo you hair a lot, this will only contribute to the dryness. You should only wash your hair every other day if not every 3 days unless you hair is oily.

Do not skip shampooing, your hair still needs to be cleaned.

Get a good shampoo and conditioner. I recommend L'oreal Professional Intense Repair, it will cost about $40-$50 for both.

Go to a salon and get a deep conditioning treatment, I would say to start off with every 3 - 4 days until you see a difference.

If you follow this treatment plan your hair should be good in about 4 - 6 weeks.

I wish I knew girl. I really do. I feel your pain. *hugs* I just dyed my hair the wrong color (dark brown) on my hair, and I dyed it like four times to get the color right, (diff. shades of brown) and then I bleached it like three times to get the color out, then dyed it again. I think I might have dyed it or bleached it one or two more times than I said, I dont remember. The point it, it ruined my hair! It was comming out in small locks, and then so much of it came out when I brushed it. I was so horrified I was shaking real bad and was basicly having a heart attack. So, I went to school, looking like an ablino with frizzy, straw-like hair that was comming out. (only I knew it was falling out though) That afternoon when I got home, my mom called a hair-salon woman to fix it when I was taking a nap. (we stayed up till 3, I stayed up till practicly four still shaking and all.) But she took me down there and she said it has too much damage done to it to do anything yet.

She gave me some PAUL MITCHELL super strength conditioner to repair it. I put it on every night for a week for 30 min-2 hrs with a cap over it. It gets dry and crusty if you dont put a plastic cap over it. It worked real good.

So, I went back and she dyed my hair 'chesnut'. But it was GLAZE so the dark color of it slid off and I found out chesnut was really red. I HATE RED HAIR!!!!!! I freaked out, but couldnt say anything cause it costed 100$ and that was cheap. So I wore it like that for two or three months and the color slid off, and its gotten to be a pretty color now. ^ ^

My hair used to be curly and pretty like yours too, and if i brushed it, wavy. Now I flat iron it like I would every now and again before that happen cause of its frizziness, but I still put some body into it. Ive got horrible split ends and they break off. My hair looks alright though, and doesnt feel like straw.

you have to wait for it to grow out , and get the healthy hair back naturally.

I have nice long black layered hair, but i kanda have a cuple of split ends, how do i get rid of the

%26lt;---- Stylist

You have to cut your hair to get rid of split ends, and you have to cut it often. Once a strand of hair starts to split, it will continue to split up the hair until it is cut above the split.

I have nice long black layered hair, but i kanda have a cuple of split ends, how do i get rid of them?

ask your stylist for a trim- that's the only real cure to getting rid of bad ends.

I have nice long black layered hair, but i kanda have a cuple of split ends, how do i get rid of them?

There's only 1 answer to your question and that is you cut them, there is no alternative.

I have nice long black layered hair, but i kanda have a cuple of split ends, how do i get rid of them?

i have layered hair as well, and it always seems to show split ends better than lighter hair. you can get rid of split ends yourself if you're feeling brave...some really sharp scissors and a good eye %26amp; mirror ought to do it.

or just go to a salon, ask for a trim all over, it should look great.

hope it helps =]

How do you tie up layered hair with a layerd fringe and make it look good??ps: i have a chubby face.

Ohhh! This is a tough one that I've dealt with and with which I'm dealing with now.

One good approach to getting a polished ponytail is by drying your hair with a round brush and flipping the ends (including the ends of the layers) under or up (as long as its fairly uniform) and then smoothing it all back into a pony. You can also do this with a curling iron, of course. After smoothing all of the hair into a pony that hits squarely in the back of your head or maybe a little higher, you will have a polished, elegant ponytail that swirls together and ends in a little flip that you can make flip up or down in on itself toward your head. Don't let any bits flip up at the top of the crest of the pony (it kills the polished look). While your hair is still warm, smooth the rebels down with your brush and spray and maybe smooth down with your hand, holding it there for a second to lock them in place.

Leave your bangs down, use the blowdryer and a round brush on them smoothing them all to one slide or split mainly to one side or the other.

Hope you have fun!

P.S. Always dry your hair completely and use your dryer on the cold setting for the last few minutes and concentrate on your roots when cool drying at the end. If you don't, the heat absorbed by your scalp in the drying process will escape and slowing frizz the living you know what out of your hair, especially at the scalp where it will be most obvious.

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

Ok, I have blonde chunky highlights all over the top of my head and dark dark brown on the underneith. My hair is layered and down to almost my waist. I just started a new outside sales position and need a more "professional" color and style. I just had twins several months ago so I have a round face. I have blue eyes and very pale with a few freckles.. what can I pull off? I need to look hot, yet professional. HELP! Thank you!

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

Get rid of the blonde chunky highlights. Try to make the highlights more subdued by getting a temporary rinse Roux makes the best ones found at a beauty supply house (Like Sally's). It rinses out with each shampoo. Suggestion something darker and closer to your regular color. That way you can have the blonde highlights when you want to look *hot* and subtle highlights when you are doing your Professional job.

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

I'm assuming you're a girl from the description, but your name says you're a guy. Dye it red. Like, dark red. Or black.

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

dark brown =]

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

I'd say my avatar's haircut would be your most conservative and professional choice.

Shoulder length, long layers, long bangs to part to one side, and all one color. I'd say try a deep brown color, bleaching while you're nursing might be dangerous for the babies. Although I think coloring your hair altogether might be bad, bleaching sounds a lot worse and it just means more chemicals will be used keep the blond up so it doesn't dull or get brassy.

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

Make it a natural hair color. Nothing chunky. Brown would be good or whatever your natural hair color is. You should also consider cutting your hair -- super long hair is not considered "professional".

Need to change my hair color to promote more professionalism!?

hwy my name is Ashley i think u should go for a legnth about to ure shoulders and try dying ure hair all over with blonde and skiny dark brown higfhlights and i really think u should try layers and to make it extra sext yet perfessional try flipping the ends up.

I cut my hair last night, and I need advice...?

I've cut my hair since I was very little, but I've never actually had bangs before. Last night, I cut some bangs into my shoulder length layered hair. I love them, but I don't know how to care for them. Little stray hairs (Normal length and layers) keep falling into my bangs, and I take them out and all, and fix my hair, but I want to know how to keep them from doing it. Is there anything I should know about bangs? They're even and thin, but they some are starting to curl a bit around the root. How do I keep them from doing that? Any info would be great! Thanks a bunch!

I cut my hair last night, and I need advice...?

if u blow dry--

blow all but the front of your hair and air dry the space around your face

if u air dry--

keep doing what you normally do but put some mouse o the part between your bangs and other hair
